My family has had to call 911 several times when my sugar is low and I am unconcious. I am glad that they have enough sense to know NOT to do chest compressions on me because I am not responsive. If I stop breathing then of course that is another matter. I am a diabetic and often get hypoglycemic. My family has had to call 911 several times when my sugar is low and I am unconcious. Comment on Becoming a Paramedic is a Life Changing Experience by james http://www.vitalethics.org/pre-hospital-training-programs-schools/ems-2/training-to-become-a-paramedic-is-a-life-changing-experience/comment-page-1#comment-9472 james Thu, 16 Dec 2010 01:59:24 +0000 http://www.vitalethics.org/pre-hospital-training-programs-schools/ems-3/training-to-become-a-paramedic-is-a-life-changing-experience#comment-9472 It IS a tremendous career to have. Almost every call CAN be different, but you do get stuck in a rut with work, Its a job people. You WILL see things you want to forget. It will affect you, some more than others. Out of the thirty two people I graduated my Paramedic program with, five (including myself) are still working in the field. You WILL have bad days and days that make you so HAPPY to help someone you will call up your significant other, mom or dad and just tell them how happy you are. It IS the most noble profession, for you will truly be looking out for your fellow man or woman, no matter what color, religion, or beliefs they will have. Best to look on the National Registry website to see if it interests you. Good luck. It IS a tremendous career to have. Comment on Common Characteristics of Angina Pectoris by Ricky Rescue http://www.vitalethics.org/cpr-first-aid-bls-classes-certification/general-3/common-characteristics-of-angina-pectoris/comment-page-1#comment-9322 Ricky Rescue Mon, 06 Dec 2010 06:16:47 +0000 http://www.vitalethics.org/?p=10386#comment-9322 Great article. Angina can look so much like a heart attack. My wife's father had a episode once that had me convinced he was having a heart attack. I mean, I have treated many heart attack patients and he look pretty much the same, fitting the profile like a poster ad for cardiac emergencies. Needless to say I was reaching for the aspirin and was even looking for an AED just is case he decided to code. It took about 10-12 minutes for medics to get there and he was rushed off to the ER. Turned out it was unstable angina and we were glad that he was dismissed the following morning with no cardiac tissue death whatsoever. In order for a heart attack to occur, there needs to be tissue death. Based on how he presented, I would imagine without the rapid response and care from EMS he very likely would have progressed into having a heart attack. From an EMS perspective, any chest pain from a suspected cardiac origin gets treated like a heart attack. The EMS cardiac cocktail doesn't always do the job, but for many who are in pain, it does it does the trick. Great article. Angina can look so much like a heart attack. This is great! I love "HAM" and love me some EMS. Great tip. Not enough people keep the medical information handy. Why is it that people only think about being prepared when they are older? I guess experience plays a big part in the mentality behind preparation for emergencies. As you get a little older you are less likely to think "It'll never happen to me". LOL! This is great! Especially with the new AHA guidelines being recently made available. Because the new BLS acronym is C-A-B some people misunderstand and do not realize that you still need to do a primary assessment to determine adequate breathing. C-A-B is more of a treatment approach then and assessment approach. If we got breaths we got life! Please do not start pumping on someone before properly checking for breaths people! This juicer is VERY cheap but durable and effective at getting the job done quickly. It does not have a whole lot of parts so it is really easy to clean. Yeah, I agree. I can't get my kids on juices as much as i would like but I will keep the juicer in my house going even if I am the only one to drink it. It is a shame to see young people with the diets that they have. A total recipe for disease in their later years. I am a juicing fanatic and have been juicing most of my adult life. Obviously the more educated you are the better you are able to comprehend clinical concepts and pathophysiologies. EMS is a wonderful starting point form many people. Like CNA's, many students come in with little or no education other then high school. Tackling emergency care in this manner can be very difficult, especially with shorter programs. Becoming a strong, competent emergency medical technician takes time and requires a strong knowledge of both anatomy and physiology. You cannot fully understand a given treatment without knowing the physiology behind each body system. Taking A&P courses gives providers the necessary insight into why the body does what is does in a given situation. You will find that the more you understand the machine, the easier it is to recognize and fix problems with the machine and consequently, the easier your EMT exams will be. Comment on How do I Become a Chiropractor? by James Barger DC http://www.vitalethics.org/chiropractic/chiropractor-schools-programs-11/how-do-i-become-a-chiropractor/comment-page-1#comment-9263 James Barger DC Thu, 02 Dec 2010 01:30:50 +0000 http://www.vitalethics.org/?p=1036#comment-9263 This is a well balanced introduction to the prospective chiropractic student. I would advise anyone serious about pursuing this career to interview several doctors of chiropractic. Specifically ask them if they had it to do over again, would they choose chiropractic as a career, given the current health care climate. Things have changed since I graduated over 25 years ago for everyone in the health care fields. Look closely at all your options. Feel free to email me and/or look at my website for additional information. This is a well balanced introduction to the prospective chiropractic student. It is very effective during a cleansing process and extremely refreshing as well. There are many who testify to the outstanding benefits of the lemonade diet. Although I have not tried the famous lemonade diet I do understand the wonderful alkalizing properties of lemons and can understand why so many would claim such outstanding results.
